About Our Client: Our client is creating a paradigm shift in post-operative care, utilizing the plethora of data within the body, to help in the detection of post-operative complications at their onset. Their clinically validated platform sensing technology augments existing wound drains and catheters, providing healthcare providers with a smart monitoring tool that can support earlier detection of deadly complications and enhance the delivery of care.

About the Role: This role centers around all software development beyond our client’s proprietary sensors and hardware. They are looking for someone with solid foundations in software architecture and development to work with our client’s Software & Data Engineering Teams to deliver high-quality products and internal toolsets. They are looking to add a Software Engineer to their high-performing Software team. In this position, you will be working closely with our client’s hardware, clinical, data and R&D teams to build and maintain product software, consolidate our data sources, build out data pipelines and optimize data access to gain actionable insights for their organization. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing product software & processes to manage and analyze data from our client’s commercial and research
studies.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain mobile and cloud architecture to enable patient data collection and processing, and presentation of results to healthcare professionals
  • Translate regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPA, PHIPA) to product specifications and ensure compliance.
  • Devise deployment strategy for local and international hospitals depending on their infrastructure and IT policies.
  • Assist in conducting technical risk and privacy impact assessments.
  • Architect, implement and execute data processing workflows locally or in the cloud.
  • Collect, extract, manage, and transform data from multiple sources, including local data, cloud imports/exports.
  • Plan and implement real-data tests to ensure data storage and processing integrity.
  • Identify any inconsistencies and initiate resolution of data problems.
  • Contribute to shaping the long-term roadmap and plan to evolve data capabilities.
  • Support other teams with software needs as required.


Required Competencies:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of backend architecture design and implications on development, security, and privacy
  • Strong knowledge of architecting software infrastructures & data pipelines
  • 2+ years of experience working with data pipelines and workflow management for both structured and unstructured
  • Experience with Azure or similar cloud computing platforms
  • Strong knowledge of data structures and database fundamentals
  • Strong knowledge of back-end development in C# and some with Python
  • Strong knowledge of mobile software development in Java and Kotlin (Android preferred)
  • Good knowledge UX design for website and mobile development
  • Good knowledge of website front-end development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, React, Vue)
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary set of teams
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and in constantly changing conditions
  • Familiarity with version-control software and branching strategies
  • Experience in Agile software development


Nice to Have

  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience working with clinical data sources
  • Familiarity with the Software-as-Medical-Device (SaMD) framework (FDA and Health Canada)
  • Comfortable working with PHI in HIPAA/PHIPA environment
  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning and/or artificial intelligence
  • Knowledge of standard encryption algorithms for data security
